19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his first title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging season, managing just one win at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface after March of that year.

Success also means the Russian has secured 21 victories at 21 different events.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the top level was over.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour title, took control to force a decider.

Moutet saved four early-game opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, he secured victory with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
